Executive of the Month of May: Jake Lee
We’re thrilled to spotlight Jake Lee, one of our dedicated Community Engagement Associates at the Ontario branch of HNP Canada!
“Hi, I’m Jake, a Grade 11 student attending Oakville Trafalgar High School. As a Community Engagement Associate, I collaborate with my team to plan and run events that connect students with local initiatives! Most recently, I helped organize an Earth Day competition and supported the development of both virtual and in-person pollinator garden events.”
When asked why he joined HNP, Jake shared: “I was excited by the idea of a truly youth-led organization where fresh perspectives drive real change. I believe HNP gives me the opportunity to turn ideas into actions that benefit communities across the GTA; and it’s a great way to build leadership skills early on!”
Here’s what Jake’s currently working on with his team: “I am currently compiling and writing our Community Engagement team’s event impact report to highlight how our Earth Day Competition and Pollinator Garden events advance urban greening and strengthen community outreach.”
What Jake loves most about HNP? “The supportive and enthusiastic community! Everyone’s passion and friendliness create an environment where I feel comfortable and where collaboration thrives.”
Looking ahead, Jake is eager to grow even more through HNP: “I’m excited to gain valuable experience through upcoming projects and deepen my understanding of environmental issues. The diverse opportunities at HNP are helping me build both my skills and knowledge.”
Fun fact: Jake is an avid long-distance runner, loves discovering new music, enjoys watching basketball, and is obsessed with shawarma—especially from Osmow’s!
