The UofT Sustainable Action Award

Human Nature Projects Canada would like to give a huge congratulations to our Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director, Muhammad Ansar, for receiving a Sustainable Action Award in the individual student category from the University of Toronto back in March of 2025!

The Sustainable Action Award recognizes individuals and teams driving positive environmental and social change, both on and beyond the University of Toronto Campus. Muhammad, his fellow recipients, and the many runner-ups deserve a round of applause for their incredible passion and dedication to making a positive environmental and social impact.

The Sustainability Office at St. George Campus works round the clock to make sustainability a core focus and part of how U of T runs. Their efforts are guided by the ideas of regenerative sustainability and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal, aiming (and succeeding) to make the university a global leader in sustainability. As U of T has held the position of the most sustainable university in the world for two consecutive years, Muhammad’s achievement as the only recipient across all three campuses to receive the award in his category is even more impressive.

A message from Muhammad: "A belief that has grounded much of my community organizing work is that sustainability is about more than the environment, it’s about intersectionality, relationships, equity, and how we care for one another. This recognition is not mine alone, it is a reflection of the incredible communities and individuals I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. Thank you!”

Congratulations to all the other winners and runner-ups!
