Position availability/descriptions

Events Team

Events Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the event directors to plan and execute events for HNP Ontario and ensure that all the delegated tasks assigned to the department are completed on time. Research and reach out to potential guest speakers for our events. Manage all event set-up, tear down and follow-up processes. Work with the event directors to maintain event budgets, book venues/equipment, access and submit events’ overall success reports. If possible (not required), travel to HNP Ontario’s event site(s) before the event to scout out the area (eg: geography, nearby food places, parking spots). Manage event operations and logistics on the day of (i.e: tree planting, community cleanups). Create event advertisement posts and plans in collaboration with the marketing department (including itineraries, TikToks, Instagram reels, Facebook posts, sign up forms etc). Email and contact potential sponsors for food and prize sponsorships for events. REQUIREMENTS: Previous leadership experience is an asset; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong communication and organizational skills.

Finance Team

Finance Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the finance director(s) to oversee the organization’s finances. Help schedule and execute large purchases (eg: for our events & volunteers). Help reimburse the executive team when needed. Design, plan and order merchandise for HNP Ontario’s executive team and volunteers. Prepare quarterly finance reports along with the finance director and present to the rest of the executive team. Assist the finance director(s) with yearly budget projections and impact reports. Proposal writing, searching and applying for grants. REQUIREMENTS: Previous accounting/finance experience is an asset but not required; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong communication & organizational skills.

Human Resources Team

Human Resources Administration Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the HR Administration Director to complete the delegated tasks assigned to the department. Help in administrative work such as keeping track of documents in the HNP drive, helping the HR director with recording the weekly meeting(s), taking attendance, and keeping track of the attendance/absence logs, strikes, emails, executive portfolios etc. Hand out volunteer hours at all of our events to attendees. Plan/execute monthly team bonding activities (virtually) for the team as well as supervise the submission of volunteer hours for the executive team on a weekly basis. Organize and schedule exit interviews with team members who decide to leave HNP. REQUIREMENTS: Previous leadership experience is an asset but not required; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, ability to work with a team, strong time management & organizational skills.

Human Resources Recruitment Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the HR Recruitment Director to complete the delegated tasks assigned to the department. Update the orientation booklet(s) and executive portfolios after each successful hiring period. Help with onboarding new HNP members (interviews, orientations, trainings, onboardings). REQUIREMENTS: Previous leadership experience is an asset but not required; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, ability to work with a team, strong time management & organizational skills.

Outreach Team

Outreach Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the outreach director to search for potential collaborations and create a master tracker spreadsheet to keep track of all partnerships and sponsorships. Create promotional material (eg: posters, posts) and partnership packages for all new collaborations (sponsorships, partnerships) Contact the local government (eg: mayors, MPs, MPPs) to invite them to HNP Ontario’s in-person and virtual events. Get shout-outs from other nonprofits and businesses and work with the website manager to update our website with sponsorship information as needed. Create all promotional material for yearly Ignite Fair and university club’s week tablings (eg: videos, sign-up sheets, presentations). Conduct research on current and ongoing environmental issues around the globe and create presentations on them (to be presented to high school students) REQUIREMENTS: Being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong Communication, writing, organizational skills.

Marketing Team

Marketing Associate 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and design posts for our social media pages (specifically facebook & Instagram). Photograph our events for our social media and upload photos on the HNP google drive. Work under the marketing director(s) to come up with advertisement strategies for our events (eg: paid advertisements, instagram reels, tiktoks) Incharge of HNP Ontario’s social media (Instagram, facebook, linkedin, tiktok). Respond to comments and inquiries on our social media pages in a timely manner. Arrange shoutout for shoutout with other NPOs and increase our follower count on Instagram and Facebook. Respond to comments and inquiries/dms on our social media pages in a timely manner. Build connections on Linkedin platform to grow HNP’s business account Responsible for creating stories, videos and highlights on our social media platforms. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use photoshop, or squarespace is an asset but not required. Ability to use Canva is required. Familiarity with Instagram, passion for social media management. Strong writing, collaboration and communication skills.

Community Engagement Team

Community Engagement Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the Community Engagement director to ensure that tasks are assigned are completed with quality. Create and coordinate long-term programs or opportunities for youths to participate in (such as new initiatives like writing a children’s novel, research, etc). Aid in managing HNP’s public relations in the surrounding communities and beyond. Aid in connecting HNP’s initiatives with younger children and elders who are out of the organization’s general age demographic. REQUIREMENTS: Strong communication skills, able to lead groups and adapt to new challenges, strong time management & organizational skills. Prior leadership experience is an asset but not required.

Communications Team

Communications
Associate

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the communications director(s) to research for, write, edit and design HNP Ontario’s monthly newsletters AND articles on current and ongoing environmental issues around the globe. Research for guest speakers (eg: doctors in the field, professors, other non-profits) to interview them for HNP Ontario’s podcast. Work with the director(s) of communications to produce a monthly episode for HNP Ontario’s environmental podcast and help out with recording and editing (eg: the intro, outro as well as the soundtrack). Attend weekly meetings to update the rest of the organization on progress made in the communications department. REQUIREMENTS: Strong communication, writing, editing and time management skills. Prior experience with video editing software(s) is an asset but not required.

Logistics Team

Logistics Director

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the Vice President of Community Relation to oversee HNP Ontario’s website development and management (including all updates after events and sponsorships) Attend weekly meetings to update the rest of the team about progress made within the logistics department/team and delegate tasks to associates on a weekly basis. Edit and upload youtube videos regarding HNP’s initiatives on our respective youtube channel Prepare end-of-the-year annual report. REQUIREMENTS: Being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong communication, organizational, leadership, writing and editing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work on our website in terms of aesthetics and integration of any links and events. Deal with errors that occur on the site and fix them as needed. Make the website easily accessible and visually appealing Update our website after each event or partnership/sponsorship collaboration. Ensure that our website is updated with the organization’s most recent contact information and exec team members (bios + headshots). Aid in the editing of youtube videos regarding HNP’s initiatives REQUIREMENTS: Strong website curation, communication, graphic design, teamwork & time management skills. Prior experience in Wix or website curation is an asset but not required.

Fellowship Team

Fellowship Director

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the VP of Fellowship to oversee the organization’s fellowship program. Design a theme for the fellowship with the VP of Fellowship Prepare workshops and plans for the fellowship with the VP of Fellowship Assign and look over the work of officers under fellowship (ex. Grant applications, advertisement, interviews) Assist the VP of Fellowship with budget and reports. Proposal writing, searching and applying for grants. REQUIREMENTS: Previous event planning experience is required; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong communication & organizational skills.

Fellowship Marketing Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and design posts for HNP’s social media pages regarding the fellowship (specifically Instagram & linkedin). Fellowship Research officer

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work under the Fellowship Director(s) to oversee research regarding the fellowship. Research under a specific topic for the fellowship (E.g. Environmental issues impacting Indigenous communities, etc.) Share collected research with the rest of the fellowship team so it can be published on HNP Ontario’s website, social media, etc. in regards to the fellowship REQUIREMENTS: Previous research experience is an asset but not required; being comfortable in new and challenging environments, strong writing & organizational skills.
