Formal Report

All program participants will be asked to research one environmental issue that adversely affects health in one Canadian Indigenous community. They will then be asked to summarize this environmental issue and its adverse health effects in a formal report. Participants will work in teams of 3-4 to write this report which will be 8-10 pages in length. The deadline for the report will be September 8th at 11:59 pm EST, two weeks after the last day of the virtual fellowship. Participants will be given ample time to form groups and get started on the report during the five days of virtual programming. The report will be divided up into two sections and include the following:

SECTION ONE:

  • A formal title page & table of contents (APA format).

  • Background on and introduction to the environmental challenge chosen.

  • Background on and introduction to the Indigenous community chosen.

SECTION TWO:

  • The effects of that particular environmental issue on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and well-being within the chosen Canadian Indigenous community.

  • The impacts of that particular environmental issue on the day to day life of members of the chosen Canadian Indigenous community.

  • How is the Indigenous community responding to this environmental concern (ie: use a strength-based approach and focus on resilience and adaptability)?

  • References page (APA 7th Edition).
